TMA Varsity Softball beats Trinity Christian to end regular season

The Master’s Academy Varsity Softball team beat Trinity Christian Friday night 9-3 to improve to 15-8 overall.
Trinity Christian (Deltona) scored one early but wouldn’t score again until the 7th inning. In the 1st inning, Hayley Ritter was walked, Emily Scott reached on a bunt, Alexia Taylor walked, and Carissa Ellis scored both Ritter and Scott with a single. In the 3rd inning, Taylor hit an in-the-field homerun to score one. The score was 3-1. In the 5th inning, the TMA bats came alive! Taylor began the inning with a triple and scored on a single by Ellis. Morgan Phillips hit a single and both Ellis and Phillips scored on a triple by Isabelle Grier. Grier scored on a double by Nikki Corsini. Ritter reached on a single. Corsini scored on a single by Chrissy Shaffer. Ritter scored on a fielders choice hit to second base by Scott. The score was then 9-1. Trinity Christian scored two in the 7th with two outs to finalize the score at 9-3. The Lady Eagles were led by junior Chrissy Shaffer who was 2-4 with an RBI; sophomore Hayley Ritter was 3-3 with 2 runs and a double; sophomore Nikki Corsini who was 1-3 with a run and an RBI; and junior Morgan Phillips who was 2-4 with a run. Phillips got the win on the mound. She improves to 14-7 overall and had 11 strikeouts in the win. The softball team will play Father Lopez in the District Championship on Thursday, April 19 th at 6pm at TMA.
